As a writer he was a contributing author to the Microsoft Press book Advanced Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, and he also wrote a regular Visual Basic column for EXE magazine for over two years. He has also been a Technical Editor for MSDN, Microsoft's primary website resource for developers. In the days prior to being freelance he wrote lots of code, managed and trained development teams, designed overall systems architecture, and specialised in code reviews, quality control, and internal consultancy on anything related to Microsoft. Nowadays he predominantly uses Visual Studio 2005 for .NET windows-based systems and ASP.NET web-based development.

2003 saw the completion of an extensive .NET-based conversion/rewrite of Economatics Control Station, a flowcharting teaching application used extensively in secondary schools throughout Britain. The rewrite makes extensive use of GDI+ and was launched commercially in February 2004 to great acclaim (see testimonial statement on References page). He also completed in 2004 the development of an application for APT Transtelex Plc to allow non-technical language translation staff to edit multiple Windows RC resource files without needing to use Visual Studio.

His role with World Development Systems Ltd is largely concerned with a complete rewrite of "e-Lybra", the company's flagship product which offers considerable possibilities in offering new forms of healing using bioresonance technology. In 2005 he completed a total rewrite of the company's website into an ASP.NET system which includes online shopping, membership management, dedicated secure user areas, support for foreign languages, company news, and content management. In 2006 the site was upgraded to an ASP.NET 2.0 platform.

Jon is married to Alison, has two cute cats, and lives in Worcester.
